Not available to officiate early high school games?

In addition to its annual training for high school baseball and softball, the IUA will be conducting a second session of classes for the independent season only. This includes rules and mechanics for all baseball and softball other than HIGH SCHOOL.

These classes are primarily for those officials who are not available for high school games (start times are 3:30-4:00 weekdays) and who would like to be involved in our independent season.

The IUA covers independent baseball leagues such as American Legion, Babe Ruth and Little League.  Spring and summer games generally are 6 PM or later on week nights and throughout the day on weekends.

Classes will be held weekly beginning in mid-March and conclude around the end of April.  Your $50 tuition covers the cost of rule books, IUA dues and insurance.

The Classes will be run by Mike Walsh as well as other IUA Officials as needed. Mike can be reached at Mike.Walsh.Umpire@gmail.com or by phone at (609) 617-6139.  Otherwise you can contact us via email at iuaumpires@iuaumpires.com.

Once again, this is an alternative to the first session of classes that start in January for High School Baseball and Softball, which ultimately leads to NJSIAA Certification. Candidates who complete the independent course will be limited to calling non-high school games.

The IUA hopes to see you at ONE of these classes to further your Umpiring Skills.

Yours truly, IUA Cadet Committee
